Your department relies on IMGs and locally employed doctors. Nobody designed the support around them. Some get a supervisor who understands a first NHS post, others get whoever was free.
The influence you do hold, and how to build supervision and support that does not depend on individual goodwill.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand your specific influence as a lead or champion, and distinguish between what you can change directly, what you can advocate for, and what requires system level action.
- Influence your department and your trainers past compliance, towards culturally aware supervision that changes practice not paperwork.
- Build confidence in the harder institutional conversations, with HR, with management, with resistant colleagues, and with doctors struggling but not yet asking for help.
- Design induction, supervision and escalation structures that close the gaps IMGs and locally employed doctors fall through.
- Leave with a 90 day plan naming what you will change, who you need on side, and how you will know it worked.
