what does this course cover?
A patient safety incident changes how everyone involved sees their work. The investigation runs its course, and the people inside it are rarely given anywhere to put what happened.
A full day to discuss, reflect on and learn from incidents. Just Culture, human factors, Duty of Candour, and support for the people caught up in it.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand best practice for learning from incidents through system based investigations.
- Apply the principles of a Just Culture when responding to and investigating incidents.
- Recognise the role of human factors and ergonomics in patient safety and error prevention.
- Understand the Duty of Candour and how to conduct effective, honest conversations.
- Learn strategies to support colleagues involved in patient safety incidents as second victims.
