This workshop is tailored for supervisors to gain essential skills in supporting doctors returning to training after an absence and those working less than full time (LTFT). Participants will learn to develop individualised plans, provide effective supervision, and address the unique challenges of LTFT training.

 

The session will cover strategies for creating a supportive environment for returning trainees, including developing tailored return-to-work plans and providing additional training. Supervisors will also understand how to manage LTFT transitions effectively and address the specific needs and benefits of LTFT arrangements.

To equip supervisors with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively support doctors returning to training and those working LTFT, ensuring a smooth transition and optimal performance in their roles.

  • Develop an individualised return-to-work plan considering the trainee’s needs, abilities, and any limitations from their absence.
  • Provide adequate supervision and support to ensure trainees are comfortable, confident, and competent in their roles.
  • Offer additional training or resources to refresh or enhance knowledge and skills that may have been missed during the absence.
  • Understand the process for supporting the transition to LTFT training.
