what does this course cover?
Resident doctors are now expected to build generalist and leadership skills through enhance, and you are expected to supervise it. Most supervisors met the programme through an email rather than any training.
This session explains what enhance asks of the doctor and of you, and how to run it locally without adding another layer of paperwork.
Learning outcomes:
- Explain what the NHS England enhance programme asks of Foundation doctors, and how it sits alongside rather than on top of the curriculum.
- Supervise the generalist and leadership elements of enhance with confidence, knowing what the evidence and sign off require.
- Hold high expectations in supervision meetings while giving the support that makes them achievable.
- Apply contextual and compassionate leadership to your own department, so what you teach matches what residents see modelled around them.
- Build a workable local plan for enhance delivery that fits your rota, your faculty and the time you have.
