Foundation Education Supervisors Core Programme

This full-day programme is designed to enhance the skills of educational and clinical supervisors with a focus on supporting foundation doctors. Participants will engage in interactive discussions, case studies, and role-playing activities led by experienced doctors in supervision. The workshop aims to align practices with AoME GMC-endorsed standards for supervisors.

Participants will learn how to clarify their supervisory roles, support foundation doctors effectively, and encourage reflective practices. The course will cover providing constructive feedback, creating supportive learning environments, and managing performance issues tailored to the needs of foundation doctors.

The primary aim of this workshop is to equip Educational and Clinical Supervisors with advanced skills and practical strategies specifically to support foundation doctors. By focusing on GMC-endorsed standards and effective supervision methods, the workshop seeks to ensure high-quality support and professional development for foundation doctors.

• Clarify the roles and responsibilities of Educational and Clinical Supervisors in relation to foundation doctors.
• Reflect on challenges and strategies specific to supporting foundation doctors.
• Encourage effective reflection practices and manage critical incidents involving foundation doctors.

• Understand Portfolio, ARCP, and workplace assessment methods relevant to foundation doctors.
• Craft high-quality supervisor reports and identify future Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs.
