Summary of workshop

This workshop is designed to provide SAS Doctors with an introduction to management and leadership profiles, exploring the principles of effective team working and negotiation skills. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and practical exercises, participants will develop their confidence in handling challenging conversations and critical decision-making, as well as their ability to contribute positively to multidisciplinary team working.

Management and Leadership Profiles

Introduce and explore management and leadership profiles,
Understand the importance of self-awareness in effective leadership and management
Develop an understanding of the NHS leadership values and behaviours
Understand and apply management and leadership theories in the context of the SAS Doctor role

Team Working and Collaboration

Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of effective team working and how to develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues
Understand the importance of multidisciplinary team working and inter-professional collaboration in improving patient outcomes
Develop strategies for effective communication within a team and in challenging situations
Learn how to give and receive constructive feedback to improve team performance

Interpersonal Effectiveness and Negotiation

Develop your ability to manage challenging discussions, deliver difficult feedback, and negotiate effectively
Explore the different sources of power and how they can be leveraged in negotiations
Develop a critical approach to decision-making processes, and the ability to explain decisions in an honest and transparent way
Learn how to identify and escalate concerns where necessary
