Our three day mentor programme is an ideal opportunity for participants to develop enhanced skills as a mentor and create meaningful and impactful mentoring relationships.
Day One – Core Skills
Summary
Our core day covers the fundamental skills of mentoring. Participants will learn how to clarify the role of mentoring, define the process from contracting to evaluation, and contract well to ensure an impactful mentoring relationship.
What will be covered?
- Clarify the role of mentoring – what it is and isn’t
- Develop advanced skills such as active listening, questioning techniques, reframing, and developmental feedback to enhance coaching and mentoring abilities
- Build rapport and respectfully challenge assumptions, perceptions, and limiting beliefs to widen perspectives and generate more options
- Define the process, from contracting to evaluation
- How to contract well to ensure an impactful mentoring relationship – including clarity, expectations, conduct and ethics
- Apply mentoring models for effective developmental conversations
Core Day Two – Transformational conversations
Summary
Participants will learn techniques to both support and respectfully challenge thinking to widen perspectives and choices. They will also work with limiting beliefs, assumptions, habitual thought patterns and create new habits and patterns.

- Getting to the Heart of the Matter – transformational conversations
- Techniques to both support and respectfully challenge thinking to widen perspectives and choices
- Working with limiting beliefs, assumptions, habitual thought patterns and creating new habits and patterns
- How to provide developmental feedback and create SMART development plans with mentees
- Creative ways to support the mentee and unblock thinking
Mentor Practice
Prior to day three participants should have conducted some mentoring practice and completed some reflection in their mentor diary. They will also be required to have completed a Values in Action self-assessment tool.
Day Three – Action Learning Sets
Summary
Day three of our Mentor Training Programme, our Action Learning Sets Day, participants will have an opportunity to review and reflect on their newly learned skills. Prior to this day, they will have conducted some mentoring practice and completed some reflection in their mentor diary.
What will be covered?
- Knowing, self-reflecting and working with our values in action to apply this learning in the mentoring process
- Sharing of key reflections from practice and identifying your growth edge going forward
At the end of our Mentor Training Programme, participants will have gained the necessary skills to create impactful and meaningful mentoring relationships. They will have learned how to clarify the role of mentoring, define the process, contract well, provide developmental feedback, create SMART development plans, and work with values in action.
